are books ever made into minor motion pictures?

Doing descriptions of places (or anything) in writing:

Well, a couple of things ...

First, try to pick out what's the interesting or pertinent point of the description. Is it that the building is red brick, or that it's exactly like the whole street?

Second, read a lot and see how others describe things. They differ.
